andrzej nowak is a polish early computer music composer who never found proper place in official contemporary music world. tracks produced between 1987 and 1994 as a score for never screened animation movies (the producer didn’t like them). lines of simple sounds, interrupted by primitive electronic trumpet and other fake instruments. are you sure it’s a film score? what was the thing that producer didn’t like? weird harmonies or too much rhythm?

as half of heltah skeltah, 1/8 of the boot camp clik, and with a successful solo career in his own right, sean price (brooklyn, ny) had a cult-like following, releasing critically acclaimed projects such as ‘monkey barz,’ ‘jesus price supastar,’ and ‘mic tyson.’ sadly, sean price passed away in his brooklyn apartment in august of 2015. the entire music community has since been grieving his untimely death, though the release of this 30-track mixtape, now available on vinyl offers an opportunity for fans and friends alike to celebrate the life and career of the storied mc.

timmy ps latest outing on dessous recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. now based in london, timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as local talk, extended play, dirt crew and madtech. with safety first, timmys playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. the title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. the fantastically named grim fandango is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. timmys balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes. bosh is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while james dexters remix is a robust, deep roller. this is house music made with joy and passion.

testarossa is third studio album by brinstaar. he says that this album is dedicated to redheaded blue-skinned goddess. this work is reflecting brinstaar’s deep and emotional chase for the elusive moment of infinite bliss that keeps him alive and conscious.
while using mainly processed guitars for infotswetock and synths for mielisss, brinstaar uses a lot of acoustic instruments and field recorded sounds in testarossa now, thus creates much more intimate compositions. of course, his specialty mesmerizing synth parts and precisely constructed guitar timbres are still here too.
